L$80,000 Loan Scheme for Women in JJY

first_imgAs part of its efforts to empower local market women in the J. J. Y.Gardnersville Township in District #12 in Montserrado County, the ‘Friends of Dr. George Beyan Semah’ has launched a women’s empowerment loan scheme in the township.Presenting the L$80,000 to the township, during the launch of the program held at the Bishop Tue Institute in Gardnersville, its chairman D. Findesco Lama said the scheme was in response to numerous appeals by market women in the district.According to Mr. Lama, the loan scheme is a pilot project to benefit eight women that would be selected in the township.He said the beneficiaries will be increased to eleven if those who have been selected to use for the first six months live up to expectation.In response, Madam Ella Swean, chairlady of the J.J.Y Gardnersville Market Women Association, thanked the ‘Friends of Dr. George Beyan Semah’ for coming to their aid.“We are very happy and we want to say thanks for coming to help us in this community. We are going to use the money wisely, so that other women will benefit from it,” she noted.Eight market women in the J.
