first_imgTennis star, Maria Sharapova’s much-anticipated autobiography finally hit shelves on Tuesday, 12th of September 2017. Sharapova had announced in November 2015 that she was excited to share her story with the world – And she has.The book, titled “Unstoppable: My Life So Far” gives an account of her journey to stardom, starting with moving from Russia to America with her father to pursue her tennis career at the age of six.In the memoir, Sharapova opened up about her fierce rivalry with fellow tennis star, Serena Williams, how they met and more.The Russian has received a lot of backlash about how she describes Serena Williams in the book. With statements like: “I think Serena hated me for being the skinny kid who beat her, against all odds, at Wimbledon,” Sharapova gave details of her various encounters with Serena Williams and tensions between them.She added, “Someday, when all this is in our past, maybe we’ll become friends. Or not. You never can tell.”Sharapova also reflected on her love life, being engaged to Slovenian professional basketball player Sasha Vujačić and her relationship with Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov.The five-time Grand Slam winner opened up about her 15-month doping suspension after testing positive to banned substance Meldonium in 2016, returning to tennis after the suspension and more.The 30-year-old held a book signing event and made appearances on a number of TV shows to promote her new book. She also shared a video of herself, thanking her fans for all their love and support. Sharapova continues on her book tour.
