OpTic Gaming, an esports organisation best known for its prowess in console first-person shooting games, has signed an exclusive broadcasting deal with livestreaming platform Twitch.The move will see all of its players stream on the leading platform as Twitch looks to capture the “Green Wall” – the name given to the avid fans of OpTic’s teams. The organisation is amongst the biggest and most successful on social media, with the organisation’s Twitter having 2.75 million followers. The org is extremely successful in Call of Duty, Halo and just days ago the Gears of War squad were crowned the Las Vegas Open champions, defeating EnVy Us in the finals – in a match dubbed the #eClassico on social media. The organisation has never touched the multiplayer online battle arena (“MOBA”) genre, with League of Legends and Dota 2 never having been associated with the brand. It has, however, ventured into the world of PC esports with it’s North American Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster which has experienced varying levels of success in the past. “First and third-person shooters are what jump-started competitive online gaming as a phenomenon and are a catalyst in making esports what it is today,” revealed John Howell, VP of Global Partnerships at Twitch in a press release.
